Salon and spa treatments have become a valuable part of self-care for Americans. Manicures and pedicures don't just make you look more beautiful, they help relieve stress and uplift you mentally and emotionally. Choosing a salon or spa that prioritizes infection control is more important now than ever. Your health and safety (and that of your loved onese) depend on it.
Other than "spectacular" technicans, AVNS at the Glen is recognized for our therapeutic uplifting ambiance and pristine clean environment. Client Nadia B. noted that "[AVNS at the Glen] is impeccable. The measures taken for cleanliness is impressive". The salon earns its reputation by taking safety seriously. Even prior to COVID-19, the Glenview location of Anthony Vince Nail Spa was already taking precautions including:
- Using hospital grade disinfectant made by companies registered with the EPA. Service stations are wiped after every client. Clients were asked to sanitize their hands at check-in and staff are required to wash their hands with Hiberclens before servicing clients to control infections even before the pandemic.
- Disposable products wherever practical and never reuse the paraffin. Nail files, pumice callus remover, buffers, spa chair liners, and manicure bowl liners are some of the one-time use items the salon uses to ensure your safety.
- Washing and drying towels and linens at the highest temperatures. The salon never reuses towels and linens without washing and drying them at the highest temperatures.
- Implements are properly sterilized according to instructions for the method used. Implements, trays, and stainless steel tools are steamed in an autoclave that kills germs, bacteria, viruses, and fungi using steaming at temperatures above 300°F.
- High touch surfaces are cleaned frequently and thoroughly. Walk through AVNS at the Glen and you will notice that even surfaces behind the chairs are dusted and wiped frequently. "We don’t do things just for show, we take sanitation seriously," says President Thuy Ngo.
With no vacine or treatment available for COVID-19, the salon follows state health guidelines carefully, even adopting adoping extra measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. These steps include:
- Temperature checks before service. All guests are asked to complete a screening questionnaire and have their temperature checked using a touchless thermostat.
- Occupancy limitations and social distancing. The salon is very careful to limit capacity so clients and staff are more than 6 feet away from others. No more than 2 guests are seated in the same manicure aisle and no more than 3-4 guests are seated in a pedicure aisle.
- Barriers to keep droplets from reaching others. Naturally, personal care cannot be done by keeping a distance. That’s why the salon installed clear shields between clients and technicians at the manicure stations and staff members wear face shields while doing pedicures.
- More frequent disinfection of shared items or high traffic surfaces. From the reception area to doorknobs to pens. Surfaces and shared items are wiped, wiped and wiped, after every client whenever possible. This goes with back work areas too, not just customer facing spaces. We even wipe your credit cards.
- The facility is fogged with disinfectant each night to the clean air and surfaces .You can never be too safe during a pandemic. Each night, the salon is deep cleaned and fogged with EPA approved food safe disinfectant it to ensure the highest level of infection control.
The extra precautions AVNS at the Glen has implemented is the reason why many have chosen the salon as the first place they go to after the reopening. If a salon isn't taking these steps to protect your health, it may be time to find another.
